Let’s protect our Creatives: Founder & Executive Producer, Pelumi Adeboye's speech after the 2024 PM Africa Under 40 publication.

Entertainment expert, after 2024 PM Africa Under 40 publication on Monday gave a resounding speech as he called on Nigerian Medias to protect the ”creatives that beautify our culture .”

The 24-year-old media guru delivered an inspiring speech about the Nigerian entertainment industry after the second annual PM Africa Under 40 Lists release on Monday 4th, 2024.

The project, tagged ‘Celebrating African Culture,’ highlights the creativity of Pan-African talent and the platform honours the best in the Nigerian entertainment.

Pelumi Adeboye, the founder organized PM Africa Awards tagged "Celebrating Outstanding Achievements in Obafemi Awolowo University."

He has also been featured on various Nigerian and African magazines. 

Delivering his inspiring speech the entertainment executive urged industry players to protect creatives and stressed that the industry is at risk of losing its acclaim if the ecosystem is neglected in pursuit of personal glory.

He said: “I must say it is very important that I must let everyone know that this initiative isn't about me. I started this initiative because it is important to support our Creatives. When I say Creatives, I mean you know the talents, that entertains you and sustains our industry. The artists, the comedians, the business men and women” he said.

“I feel like we are in a very sensitive period that if we do not give attention to our talents, with this chance that we have, if we miss this chance, we will never have this chance again.”

Pelumi Adeboye also stressed the importance of supporting the Nigerian entertainment industry and stated that even fans are reluctant to pay for tickets to attend Nigerian music concerts, awards shows because they are unsure if the artistes or their favourite creative would perform or win awards respectively.

The 24-year-old entertainment executive added: “You can see, even in Lagos or in Nigeria, the fans do not even trust the artistes no more. They buy tickets no more. We own our Industry. Until this year, Afro Nation is coming to Nigeria, Headies has been doing Nigeria. Afro Nation has been doing Portugal. Afro Nation has been doing Ghana. But that shows that our utilities. I mean our institutions are failing slowly and slowly.

And it will affect us big time. And that is why we are a part of this initiative through our platform . There is a reason why we are doing what we are doing right now. We are bigger. This is our chance to protect what we have.”
